TOPICAL EVENTS THAT TRIGGER STRONG EMOTIONAL RESPONSES
The Middle East
The Middle East is a tinder box,
a fuse that’s long been burning.
The sparks that fly are righteousness.
They cause a lack of reason.
All have a stake in this.
The effects, they are far-reaching.
My eyes are closed.
I cannot see.
Don’t force me to observe this.
They all are right.
Their fuel is hatred.
Burning intervention is a farce.
Stop saying there is hope there.
This conflagration won’t go out;
They will consume each other.
High Risk
The shares I buy are high risk.
No mistake what I walk into.
My girl, she won’t talk of this.
Our life, it’s been eventful.
This rolls of my tongue.
My nature bears it lightly.
Not so for others,
We aren’t the same.
Risk for them, a burden.
There are questions of my sanity,
mostly when I’m losing.
When I smile, that’s proof of it.
Confirms my faults.
The road I choose,
Not many walk upon it.
I know of no other way.
A thought comes to mind,
God bless me in all things,
Especially when I’m losing.
I Have A Son
I have a son, who has a son.
My daughter has a daughter.
They both have siblings, dear to me,
Another son and daughter.
I claimed them all at first sight,
never to release them.
What may pass, I will hold fast.
For them, I will not waver.
There is no weight in this.
It takes away all burdens.
Just to see them is enough;
I’ll settle for those moments.
When they reach high or travel low,
it does not sway my feelings.
I cannot ask for more of life,
than to see them on their journey.
